Classic Pen Collection

The Classic collection represents Scriveiner’s interpretation of a timeless writing instrument. These pens are designed to feel familiar from the first moment you hold them, yet refined enough to remain interesting and relevant for decades.

Design philosophy

Classic pens are elegant, sleek, and intentionally balanced. They are often chosen for their understated luxury, wide colour selection, and consistent writing performance.

Every Classic pen is made from solid brass, giving it reassuring weight without fatigue. Each model is carefully balanced so that the centre of mass rests just beneath the index finger on the grip section. This engineering detail allows the pen to feel stable and comfortable even during long writing sessions.

Finishes and materials

The Classic collection offers two primary finish types:

  • Metal finishes – ion-plated with durable layers such as gold, copper, or chrome, selected for their resistance to wear and their refined sheen.

  • Lacquer finishes – coated with a thin layer of highly pigmented lacquer that retains its depth of colour and gloss even after years of regular use.

Attention to detail defines the range. Classic pens feature a distinctive engraved clip and a subtle decorative inclusion at the tip of the cap. Certain models, such as Silver Chrome with gold-plated appointments, incorporate mother-of-pearl, whose soft iridescence adds character without excess.

The Special Edition line forms part of the Classic Rollerball range, presenting the same proven construction in distinctive, vivid colours designed to stand out while remaining elegant.

Writing modes

The Classic collection includes all three writing modes: rollerball, ballpoint, and fountain pen.

  • Rollerball pens use pigmented, water-based ink refills. The ink flows freely, requiring minimal pressure and producing clean, precise lines. The liquid nature of the ink allows for a finer tip and a lighter writing feel.

  • Ballpoint pens are fitted with oil-based ink refills. This ink performs reliably on almost any paper, including glossy surfaces, and dries quickly. Due to the thicker ink formula, ballpoints produce slightly broader lines and are ideal for everyday practicality.

  • Fountain pens use a stainless steel or gold-plated stainless steel nib, a capillary feed system, and an internal ink reservoir. Scriveiner fountain pens come with a pre-installed cartridge-converter, allowing you to use bottled ink of your choice, as well as a set of pre-filled cartridges for convenience.

All writing components are manufactured in Germany by long-established specialists who also produce for other luxury stationery brands.

Pocket Pen Collection

The Pocket Pen collection is designed around portability without compromise. It answers a simple question: how small can a luxury pen be, while still writing like a full-sized instrument?

Design philosophy

Pocket pens are compact, discreet, and engineered for life on the move. When capped, they are short enough to fit comfortably into a jacket pocket, organiser, or small bag. When posted, they extend to a full, well-balanced writing length.

Pocket pens are compact, discreet, and engineered for life on the move. When capped, they are short enough to fit comfortably into a jacket pocket, organiser, or small bag. When posted, they extend to a full, well-balanced writing length.

Despite their compact length of 118 millimetres when capped, Pocket pens are designed with carefully calculated proportions so they remain stable and controlled while posted or used with the cap off.

The base material of the Pocket Pen collection varies between brass and aluminium, depending on the intentional design of each model. This distinction is explored in more detail in the following section.

Finishes and character

Pocket pens share the same commitment to materials and finishing as the Classic collection, with metal and matte finishes selected for longevity. Their design is intentionally minimal, placing emphasis on function and tactile satisfaction rather than ornament.

  • Metal finishes rely on the same ion-plating technology as the Classic range, bonding the brass base with the finishing metal at a molecular level for durability and long-term wear resistance.

  • Matte finishes are anodised over an aluminium base. Soft to the touch and highly scratch-resistant, they are particularly well suited to active use, travel, and everyday carry.

This collection appeals to writers who value practicality, travel-readiness, and quiet confidence over visual statement.

Writing modes

Pocket pens are available as rollerball and fountain pen models.

  • The Rollerball Pocket Pen offers effortless writing in a compact form, ideal for note-taking on the move.

  • The Fountain Pocket Pen provides a surprisingly expressive writing experience for its size, making it a favourite among enthusiasts who want a fountain pen they can carry everywhere without concern.

Choosing Between Classic and Pocket Pens

Choosing between the two collections depends less on writing quality — which remains consistently high — and more on how and where you write.

Warranty and Lifetime Support

Every Scriveiner pen is backed by a lifetime mechanical warranty against manufacturing defects. This reflects our confidence in the materials, engineering, and craftsmanship behind each writing instrument. Should any mechanical component stop functioning as intended at any point in time, we will repair or replace the pen.

In addition, Scriveiner offers two-year aesthetic protection. This covers visual or cosmetic defects that are not related to personal preference or normal wear. If an aesthetic fault appears within the first two years of ownership, our support team will arrange a repair or replacement.

About Scriveiner

Scriveiner is a British luxury pen brand, created and proudly owned by Yanning Li and Justin Lowes. The brand was shaped by a clear observation of the stationery market: pens were often positioned at two extremes — either beautifully made and prohibitively expensive, or affordable but purely utilitarian in both appearance and design. Yanning and Justin decided to create a product that would combine the best from the two worlds, designing pens that are both well-made and accessible.

Behind every Scriveiner pen are years of engineering, research, and refinement. Every product is developed according to five guiding principles. The product must:

  • be beautifully designed

  • be absolutely fit for purpose

  • be built to last a lifetime

  • offer exceptional value for money

  • enrich everyday life

As an online-first brand, Scriveiner has been able to focus its resources where they matter most — on materials, specialist manufacturers, and patented design solutions — rather than on retail presence. This considered approach has resulted in a product that earned international recognition, including the King’s Award for Enterprise and more than twenty design awards, such as the Red Dot Award, European Product Design Award, and New York Product Design Award.

Scriveiner pens reflect Britain’s long penmaking tradition, combined with modern engineering and manufacturing techniques that allow each writing instrument to perform reliably for decades.

Before you return to shopping,

Whether you are drawn to the full-sized presence of the Classic collection or the purposeful compactness of the Pocket Pen range, every Scriveiner pen is designed with the same intent: to make writing a considered, reliable, and rewarding part of everyday life.

By understanding how each collection is designed, built, and intended to be used, choosing the right pen becomes less about compromise and more about personal rhythm. Wherever and however you write, a Scriveiner pen is made to accompany you for the long term.
