The Art and Science of Scriveiner Metal Pens
From the boardroom to the study, a finely crafted metal pen has long stood as a symbol of status and sophistication. Beyond its lustre and weight, it represents a cultivated taste, the choice of someone who values not only the written word but also the instrument with which it is expressed.
At Scriveiner, we approached the creation of our metal pens with exacting standards. To us, it was not enough to design a pen that merely looked refined. It had to feel right in the hand, glide effortlessly across the page, and be built with precision. To achieve this, we used materials chosen for their quality and processes employed by the world’s most prestigious stationery houses.
The Craft Behind Every Pen
At the heart of each Classic Scriveiner pen lies a solid brass barrel. Brass provides the ideal foundation: its weight ensures that the pen rests naturally on paper, requiring no pressure to write. This feature transforms long sessions of note-taking or spontaneous scribbling into an effortless writing experience.
Over this brass base, we apply layers of real precious metals. To achieve the flawless finish and durability that defines a Scriveiner pen, we employ Ion Plating (IP), a respected technique in premium watchmaking and fine jewellery.
Unlike conventional electroplating, which simply deposits a thin metallic coating through an electric current, IP plating takes place in a vacuum chamber. Here, metal particles are ionised and accelerated to bond with the base surface at a molecular level, creating a denser, harder coating that resists scratches, corrosion, and fading far better than traditional methods.

This is why our metal finishes, from regal Gold pens to dramatic Gun Metal, not only catch the light on day one, but stay refined in appearance for many years of active use.
Some Scriveiner pens, those in copper and bronze, undergo an additional stage: a thorough hand-brushing process. This technique enhances the metal’s natural tone, resulting in added character and giving each pen a distinct look.
The final stage is the application of a lacquer coating, formulated in Japan and trusted by other prestigious stationery makers. This lacquer is applied in a thin layer just enough to shield the surface from weathering and daily wear, while amplifying the gentle shine of the underlying metal. This means each pen retains its elegance with every use.
The Allure of Metal Pens
Our luxury metal pens are available in both the timeless Classic format and the more compact Pocket Pen size, offering a versatile choice for those who prefer portability with elegance preserved.
Whether chosen as a professional gesture or a personal token, a Scriveiner luxury pen marks the occasion. Each pen arrives in a nice pen box, accompanied by a spare refill or cartridge (depending on writing mode) and a warranty card. The complete set for someone you value.
