The Scriveiner Pocket Pen

Some pens wait on a desk. The EDC Pocket Pen belongs in motion: clipped to a jacket, carried in a pocket, always at hand when thought turns to words that matter or masterful lines of sketches. Compact yet uncompromising, it offers Scriveiner craftsmanship in its most portable form.

From Pocket to Page

At 120 millimetres capped, the Pocket Pen is designed for discretion and ease of carry. Yet once the cap is posted, it extends into a perfectly balanced writing tool – a transformation that preserves the presence and comfort of a full-sized instrument.

Achieving this perfect balance wasn’t simple, but at Scriveiner, we have a habit of refining our pens until they are just right. During development, we noticed a small issue: the cap, though engineered for strength, felt disproportionately heavy at the top. When posted, this extra weight subtly disrupted the pen’s balance, pushing it back in the hand and diminishing the pleasure of writing.

By replacing a single component with aluminium, its weight was reduced from 3.4 grams to just 1 gram, achieving a harmony in hand that allows writing to feel effortless. Even the smallest adjustment matters when every detail is considered.

Two Ways of Refinement

This pen is available in two distinct approaches to surface and finish. The anodised matt option offers durability with a refined, non-scratch texture.

Alternatively, our metal-plated editions are hand-brushed or polished, then sealed with a thin layer of clear lacquer to protect the metal from wear and allow the craftsmanship beneath to be seen and appreciated.

Patented Design, Perfected in Balance

What distinguishes the Pocket Pen is not only its size but its achievement. It is the smallest luxury pen to accommodate a full international-size converter, making it as practical as it is elegant. Threads at both ends of the barrel allow the cap to be posted securely – a detail that ensures balance and confidence in use. The innovative nature of this design was recognised with a utility patent, underscoring Scriveiner’s commitment to both form and function.

Geometry of Bamboo

The language of the Pocket Pen draws quietly on the image of a bamboo sprout, light yet resilient, minimal yet strong. The barrel continues its steady form, while the clip carries a subtle motif inspired by the leaf. These influences are never overstated, but serve as a reminder that strength and elegance often arise from simplicity.

This miniature pen could be found in two writing modes. Both fountain pen and rollerball pen versions feature German-made international-size writing components, which makes it easier to find replacement refills or cartridges as soon as you need to.

I used another known brand Rollerball Pen before. But I didn‘t write often with it because it was a very scratchy writing experiance.
After buying a Scriveiner Fountain Pen and loving it, I also ordered the Rollerball Pen and for my taste it‘s nearly perfect. For people with bigger hands a thicker version (bigger diameter) would be the cherry on the cake.

I have four now, the crimson, cream, chrome/gold and aubergine (eggplant). These pens are well crafted, easy to write with; do not bleed through paper and have a nice feel to them. Well done.

Honestly, I’m blown away!

I bought this pen on a whim because I loved the British racing green version as well as the black and gold. For context, I own a Mont Blanc, several Parkers, an Easterbrook, and a variety of others. And these two Scriviener’s are hands-down, my favorite pens to write with. They’re unbelievably reliable, the ink flow is amazing, and I could not be more surprised and happy with my purchase. They are the pens I go to first when I open up my journal in the morning. Highly recommend!
